Sao Beach

As I said in this post, I think Sao Beach is the best beach I’ve been to so far.  But I made a mistake in my count.  I’ve been to 5 beaches already: Long Hai Beach (Vung Tau), Mui Ne Beach, Nha Trang Beach, Sao Beach (PQ), and Long Beach (PQ).  Long Beach is in the West section of Phu Quoc while Sao Beach is found at the Southernmost portion.  You’d think that because they share an island, they have the same sand and water quality — but no!  Sao Beach is just lovely with it’s fine, fine sand and clear water.  The sand ‘neath the water has the same quality as the sand on the shore.

I’m not sure if the jellyfishes are usual but there are a few that you can see swimming around — but it’s worse in Long Beach — I think they have a jellyfish convention there or something.  Must be the time of the year?

There are bungalows around Sao Beach but I’m not sure (I’m sorry I didn’t ask) if they can be used for long term.  There are no actual resorts around — just restaurants equipped with shower areas.

Aside from swimming and lying on the beach, you can go scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, and fishing.  Oh and you mustn’t forget!  EATING!

The food in Sao Beach is just DELICIOUS!  Wish we could have stayed longer to eat!  We ordered grilled prawns, tuna salad, and sour soup!  The sour soup was a hit with my brother.  In the Philippines, the sour soup is like a “sinigang”.  However, the Vietnamese version uses pineapples while the Filipino version uses tamarind.

I’m sorry if this is going to be a full week just detailing our stay in Phu Quoc but I still have a hangover from that vacation.  Take me back to the beach please.

Hi Kathleen! You should go! Really lovely beach or I’ve just missed the beach so much that’s why I’m so happy about Sao Beach. 🙂 Either way, it’s always great to be out on a holiday.
