“Nose bleed” is a term we use when we’re stressed out about something. The influx of call center companies in the Philippines propelled the word “nose bleed” to refer to the stress when speaking in a foreign tongue (specifically English) 24/7. 😀
So yesterday, in the company of Filipino friends, we had a nose bleed-free day. We were able to relax those jaws and enjoy each others company chatting in our mother tongue. O kay saya!
Actually this group has been at it for some time holding regular Saturday morning sports activities at the Saigon South International School in Phu My Hung. As you know, Vietnam’s favorite sport is football but for us Pinoys, it has always been basketball. So play they did. It’s actually difficult to find a good basketball court in HCMC.
For the women (and some men), it was racket sports, badminton and table tennis.
Our kids were there too. I couldn’t actually play a whole lot because I was taking care of the little guy. But he kept me on my feet so I hope that I might have lost a few pounds there (wishful thinking).
In the afternoon, we were off to the first birthday celebration of our friend’s baby Gabe. Such a charming little boy! Happy Birthday Gabe!
The Marasigans hosted the party in Hello Kids Centre in The Crescent (in PMH). The kids loved the place with the indoor play area and that they can actually write on the walls and no adult will punish them.
And best of all, Hello Kids Centre allow bringing in of food. For us far from home, the default party food each time is Filipino dishes. And boy, what a feast!

I was wondering if you know of any safe place, trustworthy that babysit a 1 year old for half a day? I’m visiting from Ca and might need to do that while I’m in Vietnam!

I only know of Kids Club Saigon http://www.kidsclubsaigon.com. I’m not sure though if they will accept kids below 2 years old. Better ask if they might have a special arrangement with you.

Hi Vanessa! Graco pack n play? Not popular here. I actually haven’t seen stores selling ’em. Better to bring your own as imported goods here are really expensive. Unless you want to use local versions.
