And in celebration of Vietnam’s Independence Day, this month’s issue features Old Saigon through old photographs. In Word’s search for photographs, there was a brief mention of my favorite shop, Bookazine that closed down. Christian Louboutin just opened a shop in Dong Khoi so you can imagine that the price of rent along this street has soared sky-high. No wonder Bookazine had to go. I don’t think selling magazines and old books can pay the bills.
So anyway, do find time to read The Word’s issue this month and see a glimpse of Saigon way back then.
And of course, do check my article on In The Frame featuring Anh Tuan, a painter and mosaic artist who has made a living making reproductions. Will post about him soon.
