My friend Mia and I were chatting last night and she recommended a website, Book Spine Poetry. She knew I love poetry and creating poetry through book spines is something I haven’t tried. Unfortunately, moving to Saigon, I had to leave a lot of my books back home. And most books that I have in my shelf are dark, sad ones. So all I could come up with is —
So far from God.
Desperate for His presence,
last night, I dreamed of peace —
a safe place,
a new earth.
Dang Thuy Tram’s “Last Night I Dreamed of Peace” is a diary of a woman doctor that was assigned to attend to the sick and wounded soldiers in Quang Ngai province right after the Tet offensive in 1968.
I also came up with a short letter —
Coraline,
Remember me.
We’ll meet again.
Love, Rosie
All books from this “letter” came from Bookazine (which closed last year) except Neil Gaiman’s Coraline.
