We just got back from a very short trip in Bangkok and stayed in Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort and Spa.
This is my second time in Thailand but first time in Bangkok. Coming from Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok is huge. The network of skyways got me befuddled and with just a few days stay, it didn’t allow me to wrap my head around how the city is mapped.
As much as I was sad that we were far from the shopping district (boat ride+train ride+taxi ride), I was just glad that our resort was exceptionally restful — far from all the craziness. The lush surroundings made me forget that we were in a busy city. I was afraid initially that we’d be infested with mosquitoes because Anantara is a riverside resort. But no, the resort has installed citronella sprays by the riverside to ward off the insects. Yay!
Because it was a company thing, we didn’t get to relax a whole lot but it definitely was a treat to stay in the resort.
We did get to use the pool which was warm. It has an adjacent jacuzzi. This pool is terrific for families. There’s a shallow pool for kids! My boys enjoyed taking a dip here even if it was just quick.

And how relaxing the atmosphere really is.
The boat ride to the opposite side of the river is free and let’s you get off at the Sathorn Pier right beside the train (BTS).
The boat leaves every 30 minutes and you can also request to get off at Asiatique right across the river too.
The resort is littered with interesting Thai sculptures.
There also is a cultural show nightly during dinner. We truly enjoyed the show and my son was enthralled by the dancers. He said this dancer below is like an angel.
When we got here by the way, it was midnight and we were welcomed with drinks and the kids, with soup.
Our requested extra bed was already set-up. On our second day, the door of our toilet got busted but the engineering quickly remedied the problem. Overall, our experience in Anantara is terrific. That goes for the food too!
