Gems Galore

photo 20130603_130104_zps3b7e683c.jpgI haven’t met a girl who don’t love gems.

Garnet is my birth stone but the usual deep red color is not something I really like.

So early this week, I was introduced to Phuong Hang at 130 Le Thanh Ton St. in District 1 — just behind Cho Ben Thanh.

The shop is shared by 4 different jewelry makers. I was introduced to Oanh who sits at the right side of the shop at the back. Her prices are fair and I told her to remember me so I can come back and get a good price. 😀

As with any gem, the stones are priced based on the clarity, weight, and cut.

You can of course have your own jewelry designed. But my EQ was very low at the time that I visited and I wanted a pair ASAP.

I decided on getting a pair of Agate which attracts strength and protects from bad dreams:

Agate is used for stomach upsets. Place the agate on the solar plexus. The agate can’t change emotions, but helps to change our level of acceptance of the emotion. Such as when you are very sad the agate will let you know that this will pass and help you get on to another and better day. This is why the Agate is considered so powerful as it gives us the strength to carry on. Carry an agate when you have to make an important decision.

What’s your favorite gem?

Hello, I love your post !

I’m in hcm and I want to know how much you paid your amethyst ? I know that the gemstones in Europe are quite cheap and I’m scared to pay to much because I’m a tourist. Thanks for you answer

Hi Mika! I’m sorry but I didn’t get the Amethyst. I paid 25 USD for a pair of Agate.

Thank you for your fast answer !

That is what scared me because I bought Agathe stone in Switzerland for 5$ but they are not transformed into earings or jewelry. But I’m sure they do pretty expensive compare to the price they do to Vietnamese people. Oh my… I hate bargaining but I will try tomorrow…
