After seeing no biking action for the past 3 weeks, hubby and I were back on our bikes with our friends before the sun was up at 5:30 am! The weather was perfect and we were blessed with cool weather!
Since my bike buddy, Armi, went back to the Philippines and my morning schedule pushed back due to the boys’ school time, I haven’t been on any weekday bike ride in the last 2 months. 😦
After bringing the kids to school, it’s usually too hot to go out and bike along my favorite bike paths in Phu My Hung. During the weekends, it’s either we’re too lazy or the kids want in on some bike action with us. So we couldn’t really go on our usual long bike rides.
For our 15km bike ride, we started at Sky Garden going all the way to Phu My Apartments where a couple of our friends were waiting. Then we headed to Nha Be, stopping over at the power station.
Thankfully it was a relatively easy trip consisting of only 2 major bridges and 2 smaller bridges. The only challenging part was the narrow street of Pham Huu Lau with lots of cars and motorbikes whizzing by. It’s a 2 lane road and at the break of dawn, people and motorbikes start filling the street and mini-stores and markets start their day.
By 6:45 am, we were back at central Phu My Hung and on our way to breakfast. The sun wasn’t too high up yet.
Back in 2013 when we started our Saturday bike rides, we discovered Mimi. It’s our favorite breakfast place where we indulge in xoi ga (chicken rice). And it’s been a while since I’ve been there and it was great to finally be able to do so this morning and enjoy a plate and a half of xoi ga.
After a short side trip to Kiets Stationery (Yes, I just had to check if they have in stock the color pencils I’ve been wanting to get. Oh and yup, they’ve got coloring books as well!), we were back home before 8 am. Two and a half hours well spent!
Have a great weekend everyone!
